ART OF PRAYER
“When man learns how to pray… he awakens to a beautiful secret “that life is this long prayer, that is of thanksgiving.” And in gratitude, he becomes a divine river that receive from upstream what is needed downstream”.
I am one of the people who learned how to pray the hard way, after praying the wrong way that brought me more of what I was pleading God to remove from my life. “How can I get more of what am begging God to take away?” I wondered as life crushed all around me. “What did I do to deserve all this suffering?”, l cried as suffering increased more.
I remember one of those days in a state of lack, I sat there with my four years old, two years old and a new born baby as l watched them cry of hunger, in desperation trying to press milk out my breasts that felt dry. We had slept on porridge and there was no sign of food.
I looked at my suffering children and a deep thought from pain covered me. I remember kind of questioning God as l wondered~ What about someone out there who sells drugs, does child trafficking, or even sells human organs.
Why would God keep blessing their businesses, as he denies me only a plate of food to feed my children, or other hungry little children in all over the world who are sinless?.
It did not make sense to me at that time at all, and from the bottom of motherhood I cried in pain. l felt as if either God was unfair, or he was punishing the poor people… and to me, little children did not deserve such suffering.
The rough, dry and painful cry of my children felt like a cry from all the children in the world who suffer. We are told to pray at such time of trials, but the more l fasted and prayed in a pit of feeling pathetic, the more my situation got worse.
It reached to a point where I did not have the strength anymore, therefore l gave up praying when l reached the end of receiving. Every time l tried to pray only hot tears poured down my cheeks… crying out to God asking him why me.
Only to understand later that God is never unfair. “He giveth to us just as we believe, just as we feel.” A discovery that helped me turn my life around.
We can never receive what we are not feeling…”we receive by first having it in our imagination, that which we are asking for in our reality.”
Proverbs 4:23 Be careful how you think, your life is shaped by your thoughts.
Since our childhood we are taught to believe that prayer is about asking from God for what we need, and therefore we go asking for what we want from a mode of needing, and are left wondering why our prayers do not get answered.
When prayers are done in a suffering feeling mode, then one manifests experiences that brings them more suffering. When prayer is done in a gratitude feeling mode, one manifests more experiences to be grateful. Man goes looking for causes of his undesired reality on the outside, not knowing that his very words on the inside are the creator of his experiences on the outside.
When a person is experiencing lack they think if they would get money then lack would go away, and therefore they struggle to do anything on the outside to get the money. But! it is never the “not having” money state that keeps them in lack, it is the feeling of not having money that keeps them lacking it.
“We become by being”. It is not about struggling to get what one needs on the outside… but about changing the feeling of lack, to a feeling of having it on the inside that will bring it to them.
It is not about you chasing it, but about allowing it to come to you by feeling you already have it. That “allowing mode” is the secret of a successful prayer, the faith that brings unseen to seen.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
“Prayer is a psychological movement from a problem to a solution”.
It is not about the words we say in prayers, but about the feeling contained in the words we say. “Human beings are always praying through how they feel.”
A rich person is rich and continues being richer for he feels rich, a poor person is poor and continues being poor for he feels poor. When this rich person starts feeling fear of losing the wealth he loses it all. When this poor person starts feeling the progress of gaining wealth he gets the means to create wealth streams and becomes rich. (Such people will remain rich “only if” they maintain the mindset of wealth). But if they go back to their old mindset of lack, and spend their money in fear, then the wealth goes away. And they go back to poverty…and that is the case we witness with lots of lottery winners.
God/the Divine answers and has answered the prayers of all 24/7. Just like he provides oxygen, sunshine and rain to all, he provides everything to all according to how one is feeling.
To have it in the mind, is what creates one having it in their reality. What you are in your mind is what is given unto you.
Mathew 9:29 It is done unto you as you believe.
“Prayer is a meditative state, where you are thankful for what you are asking for as if you already have it”. That feeling of having what you desire to experience in the midst of not having it is the receiving mode…the very faith it takes to bring unseen to seen.
Inside our greatest given faculty of imagination, you have to imagine and feel it is done.
Mark 11:12 And when ye pray and ask for something, believe you have already received, and you will be given whatever you ask for.
Suffering is only a trigger of what we do not want, “lack of wholeness”. Letting go of the pain and aligning yourself with what you want is what calms the suffering…as it brings you into the experience of what you desire.
You have to stop thinking “from your problem”, and start thinking “from the solution.”
Thinking from the solution does not mean you found the solution, but is about you taking your attention away from the problem, so that you can pave in a way for the solution to be found. And this does not mean neglecting your problems, it means working through problems knowing it shall pass…going through challenges knowing God got you through it all.
“We receive through believing we have already received”, it is by taking your attention away from your problem that makes it possible for you to find the solution.
You are the vine and your experiences are the branches… and just like how a branch withers if they do not receive sap from the vine, your undesired experiences will die if you stop giving them your attention.
That is why we call it “paying attention”.
Your attention is your spiritual currency that you go using to pay for your own experiences.
And just like the prodigal son sometimes it takes deep suffering for us to remember who we are. But! Creation is complete, you are this child of God who has wealth, health, love, happiness and all abundance in your heavenly account.
First, you have to be aware of the existence of that account. Secondly, you must know how to use your ATM (manifesting by faithing it). Otherwise one could go through life begging, seeking or not even being aware of what is already theirs
Your ATM is your imagination, that is the only place you are never limited. In your imagination you can do, have or be anything you wish. Combine that with faith and make your dreams into a reality.
